Amateo Conference 2016 - Connect Influence Inspire

The conference ‘Connect - Influence – Inspire’ considered the role of creative participation in the arts in society in general and in particular in a rapidly changing Europe.
The conference focused on how cooperation and networking can be used as tools to deal with the challenges faced by participatory arts organisations. We looked at ways of convincing policy-makers of the value of creative participation and how networking with European partners can increase the impact of successful regional and national projects. 

Vladimir Torbica, Head of Culture Department of Istria region presented Models of financing culture associations in Istria

Jim Tough from Saltire Society and former Chief Executive Arts Council of Scotland was keynote speaker of the conference. His keynote Amateo - Inspire, Connect, Influence can be read here

Igor Teršar, Director of JSKD – Amateur arts in Slovenia – networking, good practices and international cooperation.

Goranka Horjan, Director of the Ethnographic Museum Zagreb and Forum of Slavic Countries – short presentation of the Forum and highlight the project Craftattack – Croatian-Slovenian cooperation (http://fsk.si/?lang=en)

Dr. Aleksandra Uzelac, Department for Culture and Communication, IRMO - Cultural Networks in the Network Society Conference Programme.

Ivo Peeters, ENCC, European Network of Cultural Centres (http://www.encc.eu) made a presentation on the network and talked about how they connect participatory arts with institutions and how they influence cultural policy.

Daphne Wassink, European Choral Association - Europa Cantat (http://www.europeanchoralassociation.org/) gave a background to the organisation and explained the tri-annual festival and artistic/educational aims of the festival. She also presented results from their EU cooperation project VOICE.

Wies Rosenboom and Piet Roorda, LKCA Netherlands, Ishow’, Art by everyone - a campaign about active cultural participation and amateur arts - the new Platform Promotion and the new concept that will replace the Week of the Amateur Arts in the Netherlands – workshop

Project fair at AMATEO Conference

As part of the conference, an open forum project fair was organised where different countries took the opportunity to share ideas for new projects, to talk about successful projects that might have a new life with different partners. These included projects that had inspired communities, influenced policy makers or were good examples of regional and/or international cooperation or innovative ideas to share.
