Introduction
OPENDOEK counts approximately 823 amateur theatre groups and 27.613 members in Flanders. OPENDOEK is therefore representative for all the non-professional theatres and because of that recognized and financially supported by the Ministry of the Flemish Community.
Aims
The main objectives for OPENDOEK to meet are:
- Creating basic information and support to all amateur theatre groups (also storytelling- and Puppet-arts) in Flanders
- offering good theatre texts (our library counts more than 11.000 works that also can be consulted via an online catalogue).
- organizing theatre courses
- accompanying theatre groups concerning artistic support
- organizing theatre events (festivals and competions, participating at and organizing international festivals)
- cooperating with the local art education, cultural associations and professional agencies or companies
- Interfering as consulting partner between theater groups and the authors offices, publisher societies or the government
