Introduction
DATS is the Danish federation of amateur theatres, with about 2000 members, individual members as well as theatre groups schools and institutions, in total representing up to 56.000 different people.
Our membership covers many different areas of theatre, ranging from classical and traditional to experimental theatre forms, and including children's and youth theatre.
Aims
In DATS, we have a specific sentence that encompasses a lot of our ambitions and goals. In this simple statement, we have incorporated our main values and goals as a cultural organization. The sentence goes, “Theatre unites artistic activity with personal development.” It is, among other things, our wish in DATS to strengthen and renew cultural and artistic endeavors, aid in the struggle to end cultural prejudices and to establish connections in between people, for ideas and experiences to be exchanged. These points are our main goal in DATS both nationally as well as internationally.
